HB 2453 = More Hemp Farmers for West Virginia

Our governor recently expressed his support for new niche crops in WV. “We don’t need to have 500 niche crops,” Justice said. “It may be as simple as having two or three.” With your support on H.B. 2453, industrial hemp could be one of those important niche crops that will support our state’s agricultural sector and the diversification of our state’s economy. Expanding access for farmers to enter the pilot program will help establish industrial hemp as a new niche crop for West Virginia. We need cash crops to improve our current farming operations. Expanding the program will increase the supply chain for industrial hemp and justify investment needed for specialized equipment infrastructure.

Please ask representatives of the Agricultural and Natural Resources Committee to VOTE YES ON H.B. 2453. They need your support!

McDonald’s: Put antibiotics out to pasture!

The McDonald’s hamburger is an icon of the modern world, and billions have been served worldwide since it was first introduced 76 years ago.

But one detail has been missing from this contemporary legend: the gross amount of antibiotics that have been pumped into the famous McDonald’s beef patty.

Scientists are warning that we’re rapidly approaching the “post-antibiotic era”. As antibiotics are overused, bacteria are becoming increasingly immune. It’s downright dangerous. And fast-food restaurants like McDonald’s are feeding the crisis.
We know McDonald’s responds to public pressure because we’ve fought it before — and won.

Tell McDonald’s: Put antibiotics out to pasture. Commit to higher standards across the board. Commit to cut medicated meat from the menu.

Do Not Play Chicken with Organic Standards

Producing food that meets the USDA Organic label is a choice for farmers. And consumers who choose to buy certified organic foods want that label to mean something. That’s why Congress set up a special public committee to advise USDA and the Secretary of Agriculture on organic production rules. That Committee has spent over a decade listening to all views before recommending new organic animal welfare standards which include indoor and outdoor space requirements for organic poultry and livestock, and add definitions to which practices are allowed and prohibited under organic regulations. Now, a handful of conventional agricultural trade groups are attacking those organic standards.

Keep organic strong. Tell Congress to vote no on amendments that peck apart the USDA Organic label.

They’ve done the research!

I love this store! I can always count on them to have a healthy, safe alternative. It is a huge relief to walk into a store and buy whatever you want without having to worry about if you’re ingesting poison. Also, the employees are always really helpful and knowledgeable about their products.

Outstanding Staff!

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL STORE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. As a new vegan, they were able to show me various foods and things to enjoy. They answered all my questions with a smile and made me feel important. GREAT GREAT PLACE.

Great business with great people!

We have done business with Mother Earth Foods almost since its inception. I have seen a lot of changes through the years. All of them working toward offering more products and services for their customers. They research the products they sell and only sell the best. Anytime I have gone in asking for a product for a particular issue, the employees could steer me toward what I needed to address that issue I was having. As far as I am concerned this is the ONLY true health food store in our area. They will always have my continued patronage. Thank you for striving to provide the best for your customers.
